Ready Player Two By Ernest Cline

Parcival and co are back! This time they are on a quest to seek down the 7 shards of the Siren. But unlike the first quest they don’t know what the end reward is.

I loved Ready Player One so I couldn’t wait for the sequel and I wasn’t disappointed.

Set in a dystopian future we enter the Oasis once again but this time using a brand new ONI headset which connects to your brain meaning you can feel, taste and smell everything now as if you were really there.

We got to see all our favourite characters plus a few new ones.

An unexpected quest. Two worlds at stake. Are you ready?

Days after Oasis founder James Halliday’s contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything. Hidden within Halliday’s vault, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the Oasis a thousand times more wondrous, and addictive, than even Wade dreamed possible. With it comes a new riddle and a new quest. A last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize. And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who will kill millions to get what he wants. Wade’s life and the future of the Oasis are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance

I really liked the concept of this book as the whole controversy of what AI could do in the future is both realistic and daunting. This brought to the surface so many thoughts and questions about what life could really become once VR evolves to that level.

As a fan of video gaming I got to geek out over all the references once again. It even made me watch some John Hughes films I hadn’t seen such as Pretty in Pink and 16 candles which were both great. There are a lot of obscure pop culture references so don’t expect to get them all, I certainly didn’t but I loved reminiscing on some of the old classic arcade games and the times spent playing said games.

This book is full of action, excitement, tension and nerdiness and is a must for any gaming fans as well as pop culture fans. There is something in it for everyone. Some of the plot is predictable but overall I loved it.

If you are looking for a rollercoaster ride with all sorts of twists and turns along the way this is it.

I really hope they turn this one into a movie as well because the variety of settings would be amazing to see on the screen.

Definitely a 5 ⭐ read for me.

Have you read this book? What did you think? Would you want to enter the Oasis? I know I would
